Terms of Service -
Everything listed within this TOS is non-negotiable for ALL commissions and premades offered by Blinded by Sunlight, regardless of price. From time to time, this is updated; please read through it often to know what is expected from both parties.
Age Restriction -
-
You MUST be 18 or older to purchase either art or a fursuit from Blinded by Sunlight. However, I will work with parents/guardians of minors.
-
All contact and information for and about the commission then ONLY goes through the parent or guardian, not the minor.
Allergy Information -
-
All items are created in a pet-friendly environment. Animals will never intentionally come in contact with costume pieces during the building and creation process. Please keep this in mind when planning to commission Blinded by Sunlight. Everything is kept away from animals and thoroughly cleaned before being shipped out.
-
The work environment is smoke and drug-free.
Work Hours and Expectations -
-
Yes, I own a cellphone; however, this DOES NOT mean I am available 24/7. Please respect me, my time, and give me privacy.
-
My work hours are 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. Depending on the project, I may work past 5 pm.
-
If you are inquiring about a commission issue/question, I will respond within these working hours. Depending on the time your email is sent, it will be answered during the next working day.
-
If your email is sent late on Friday or before a holiday/vacation, you will receive a response once work has resumed.
-
I expect a level of professionalism from all my commissioners, and I completely understand your enthusiasm. Unfortunately, this does not mean we are friends upon accepting your commission, nor can I be friends with all my commissioners. Do not take it personally.
Quotes -
-
You must be 18 years or older to ask for quotes. Quotes are free! (one per person, per three-month window) Your quote is good for up to 3 months from the initial quote date.
-
Quotes are never given out verbally and will never be discussed at events or conventions. If you are still interested in receiving a quote, you are encouraged to reach out via email once the event is over.
-
Your email must include an up-to-date reference sheet, the type of commission(s) you are interested in, and any additional important information
-
I.E., indoor foot paws, claws, 2D eyes
-
-
A valid quote is needed to apply for a commission.
-
Quotes are open year-round. Please reach out via email at Askblindedbysunlight@yahoo.com.
-
Do not reach out over social media, including Telegram.
-
If you do, you will be redirected to send your enquiry via email.
-
-
A high-quality, non-shaded reference sheet with at least 2-3 full-body views of your character is needed.
-
Please, no NSFW reference sheets!
-
Photos cannot be used.
-
Pay attention to markings and colors! They must be clear and represent exactly how you expect the finished product to look. Blinded by Sunlight will not assume or simplify your character for you.
-
Please let me know if this needs to be done BEFORE your commission has started.
-
Updates/Changes to your design will be an extra charge if your commission has already been started.
-
If a new reference sheet is needed, I can create one for you for an additional charge.
-
You are free to do what you please with your quote, including denying a commission slot if it doesn't work for you.
Contract, Financial Obligation, and Expectations -
-
Before your commission can begin and any money changes hands, there is a contract with several places to initial off as well as sign off on. It is extremely important to thoroughly read through this document to understand what is expected of you and of me.
-
This document holds all pertinent information (as well as the TOS available on my website).
-
Information such as:
-
Full price breakdown and expectations.
-
Payment plans
-
Estimated timeline and frame
-
-
This is for legal purposes and to protect both myself, my business (Blinded by Sunlight), and you.
-
Failure to read through and follow the outlined rules will result in termination of your commission.
-
Fursuits are luxury items and therefore should be treated as such. Having fun in your suit is encouraged; however, strenuous repeated physical activity(s)
-
I.E., falling, crawling, dragging, and pulling/tugging, to name a few harmful actions.
-
-
They will create unnecessary stress on Fursuit's seams/parts and may cause them to pop or rip.
-
In the event this happens, your suit may be permanently damaged. I will not repair or replace items used inappropriately!
-
Use caution when suiting!
-
If you wouldn't do it in a tux or dress, don't do it in your fursuit.
Payment plans -
-
Fursuits are expensive. If you cannot pay for your suit in full up front, SHORT payment plans are accepted.
-
(Short = between 3-5 months at most)
-
The expectation is that the amount agreed upon for your payment will be sent on the date chosen.
-
The commissioner is responsible for remembering and making their payment(s).
-
One reminder will be given at the beginning of the month if you choose.
-
You have 24 hours to make your payment. Otherwise, it will be considered late, and a penalty may apply.
-
Once payment is received, you will receive a receipt to show proof of our transaction.
-
I will not chase you down to make a payment. This is the sole responsibility of the commissioner.
-
-
Again, making payment(s) every month is YOUR responsibility!
-
If you are unsure if you can continually afford or keep up with your monthly payment(s), then a purchase such as a fursuit isn’t necessary at this time.
-
Too many missed payments or failure to make payments of the agreed-upon amount on the agreed-upon day will delay your commission and may result in a cancellation of your commission.
-
You are expected to pay the FULL price for your art/graphic commission up front before anything will be started.
-
You are expected to pay a 30% nonrefundable down payment before your fursuit/kigurumi will be started.
-
If you are international, you will be responsible for covering all shipping and fees for your commission.
-
Your payment is important. Nothing can begin without the 30% nonrefundable down payment. Without continued timely payments, this will slow and possibly completely pause any and all progress on your commission.
-
It is YOUR responsibility to be financially stable! I understand things happen outside of our control all the time. However, this needs to be something you plan for if you believe it may or could happen.
-
If you miss too many consecutive payments, your commission will be cancelled!
-
I am very busy and don’t have time to chase down continuous late or missing payments.
-
Depending on the amount already paid versus what you still owe, you may be eligible for a refund.
-
Fursuitmakers/artists are not your bank!
-
If you are making payments, your fixed amount is due on the previously selected day of every month.
-
If you are making a payment online, if is your responsibility to notify me that you have made a payment every month.
-
If you fail to do this, your payment may go unnoticed.
-
I am not responsible for any lost payments.
-
Well, payment plans are accepted. Please note that if another commissioner in the queue has paid in full for their commission, OR has paid off their commission, OR is up to date with their payments, those commissions WILL BE prioritized before those currently making, missed/missing, or behind on payments.

-
I appreciate your enthusiasm; however, at this time, I DO NOT accept trades (see above) of any kind on anything I currently offer.
-
DO NOT inquire about this; it will go ignored.

Commissions -
-
Commissions are taken on a case-by-case basis.
-
If selected for a commission, and you accept. You, as the commissioner, take on the full responsibility of, but not limited to:
-
providing a clear SFW reference sheet
-
down or full payment
-
continued payment
-
Your DTD promptly.
-
-
Artwork and fursuit/costume commissions are taken in small batches, no more than 1-3 projects at a time.
-
All commissions are worked on in groups.
-
Projects will be started once you've paid your down payment and will be worked on when supplies have arrived.
-
I reserve the right to work on projects in any order.
-
All projects taken in one commission opening will be completed before new commissions are taken.
-
Please provide a clear reference for any art commissions. Please note anything you feel is relevant before the commission is started. At this time, pictures will not be accepted.
-
If you need help with your reference sheet, I will gladly work one-on-one with you to find the best solution(s) for the character, design elements, and color choices when it comes to commissioning a reference sheet. Please note that just because a color exists in the color wheel/spectrum doesn’t mean it will translate into faux fur.
-
I specialize in toony suits.
-
I DO NOT copy or mimic other artists' styles or designs.
Waitlist -
-
I do have a waitlist option available!
-
If you would like to commission Blinded by Sunlight but need time for any reason, you may consider this option.
-
The waitlist is also utilized if all fursuit/mascot/Kigurumi commission slots are currently occupied.
-
The waitlist will contain those who have previously shown interest in a future commission and have an active, accurate quote.
-
The waitlist is essentially a line, and order is determined by who is actively interested in a commission. If you back out or lose interest in commissioning Blinded by Sunlight at any time, for any reason, you will, unfortunately, lose your position in line, and if contact and interest are reestablished, you will be at the back of the list.
-
If you are currently actively on the waitlist, you will not be charged for your commission until your commission is set to begin.
-
The waitlist isn’t used for art commissions.
-
If needed, art commissioners will be given notice before implementation.
-
As with the prior waitlist, commissioners will not be charged until their commission is about to begin.
-
Premades are worked on in between commissions or during downtime.
-
Personal work is reserved for weekends.
Communication -
-
All communication regarding your commission, including interest in premades, will be through Askblindedbysunlight@yahoo.com.
-
If messaging via social media, you will be redirected to the above-mentioned method to continue our conversation.
-
You have 48 hours to respond to questions about your commission. If any change(s) is/are needed once the window has expired, additional fees may apply.
-
There are NO changes made to premades.
-
All commissioners have at least a 30-day window; if unable to connect within this window, your commission or premade will be canceled, and a 30% fee will be taken from commissions ONLY.
-
Premades will be relisted for sale.
In-progress photos/updates -
-
I’m more than happy to share photos with commissioners!
-
Please note that when asking for specific information, like:
-
Progress pictures
-
Updates
-
-
Will be given accordingly.
-
I will deny this request if:
-
Repeated late, missed, or missing payments
-
Remember, I will not chase you to make a payment. If you choose to ignore this, I will move on to another commission.
-
-
Missing duct tape dummy
-
Improperly done duct tape dummy
-
Ignoring pattern/character design requests
-
Work in Progress and Changes -
-
Multiple work-in-progress photos will be shared with you via email throughout the duration of your commission.
-
If changes are needed, you must be communicated ASAP after receiving photos to ensure a quick fix.
-
Please do not commission with me if you are unable to access your email regularly. Not through social media. I work quickly and will move on if a work-in-progress message is not responded to within 48 hours.
-
Large changes cannot be made once the art is finalized.
-
If changes to the character design are requested after this time, additional fees WILL apply.
-
Changes cannot be made to items once they are physically completed. It is the customer’s responsibility to alert me to any changes before completion.
Commission Orders -
-
All commissions will be added to Blinded by Sunlight's Trello in the order they are received; however, work will not be exclusive to one suit or badge.
-
I reserve the right to work on projects in any order.
-
Your commission will be completed promptly.
-
No deadlines will ever be given, imposed, estimated, or applied. DO NOT ask about such things.
-
I will keep you updated in regards to your commission (fabric selection, fabric ordered, fabric arrival, etc.)
-
These are things you can do that will prohibit me from being able to make progress and possibly finish your commission promptly, such as:
-
Late, missed, and missing payments
-
I will not chase you to make your payment. If you choose to ignore making timely payments, I will move on to another commission.
-
-
Missing duct tape dummy
-
Improperly done duct tape dummy
-
Ignoring pattern/character design requests
-
-
If something personal comes up that will delay or prohibit me from promptly completing your commission, such as:
-
Sickness
-
A family death
-
Personal injury
-
-
I will notify you immediately.
Measurements -
-
Everything is hand-sewn.
-
Measurements for all full and partial fursuits will be disclosed in their listing.
-
Anything listed for sale will not be changed and is sold AS IS.
-
Unfortunately, at this time, a partial suit cannot be upgraded to a full suit.
-
Suit parts cannot be upgraded to partial or full suits.
Duct Tape Dummy:
-
If your commission involves a bodysuit from me, construction will not start until a proper duct tape dummy is received. This is imperative in ensuring your costume fits correctly!
-
Bodysuits will not be constructed without a well-constructed duct tape dummy.
Materials You Will Need:
-
Full body painter suit
-
Paper towel or plastic bags for feet
-
Use cheaper duct tape like 3M Brand for the first layer
-
Strong industrial duct tape like Gorilla Tape for the second and third layers
-
PLEASE USE MULTIPLE LAYERS OF TAPE!
-
Clearly mark elbows and knees.
-
Badges are a standard size; if something smaller or larger is desired, make a note of this in your initial email.
-
Reference sheets are 8.5" by 11"
Deadlines -
-
Your suit will take time to create, and it is impossible to foresee when it will be finished due to complexity, supply availability, shipping speed, and current workload.
-
I DO NOT work with deadlines, self-imposed or commissioner-imposed.
-
Suits can take anywhere from 3 to 12 months to be completed. Please give yourself as much time before the desired date or convention. I do not work with convention deadlines.
-
I DO NOT offer rush commissions.
-
I DO NOT offer any form of line jumps/skipping for commissions.
-
Any/all commissions can be subject to delay. All commissioners will be notified immediately if a delay does occur.
Refunds/Cancellations -
-
Refunds are not available for the 30% non-refundable fee.
-
Refunds are not available on completed projects or premades that have been used sexually or altered in any way.
-
If a commission is canceled by me due to unexpected events (illness, family death, natural disaster, etc.). The client may choose to be refunded in full or receive a partial refund.
-
I reserve the right to cancel an order if the client harasses, threatens, or is otherwise unreasonable to work with.
-
If a commission is canceled by the client or must be canceled by me due to client neglect and/or harassment, the 30% retainer fee and any currency exchange or transaction fees will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.
-
Refunds, after artwork has begun, can be discussed and will depend on how much progress has been made.
-
Once a cancellation is confirmed, it is final.
-
If you receive a completed project and decide it is not to your liking, a refund IS NOT guaranteed. Multiple work-in-progress photos and communication have been exchanged before the physical item is sent, and need to be requested during that time.
-
If a Premade doesn't fit due to not reading the listing or assuming it will fit, a full refund IS NOT guaranteed.
-
30% is non-refundable, and you will not receive a refund if that is the course chosen until the suit has arrived back with me.
-
If a project is received and there is an issue, I will be more than happy to work with you to solve the issue.
Forfeit/Abandonment -
-
Just because I finish your commission does not mean it will be shipped/delivered if payment is still required. You will have a 30-day window to clean up any outstanding debts owed before your commission is considered forfeit/abandoned. At this point, your commission will be altered and resold as a premade. If, in the case that during the course your fursuit/project/premade contact is lost, it is your responsibility to maintain proper up-to-date contact with Blinded by Sunlight.
-
If, in the event, payments are missed/missing within a 30-day window, your fursuit/project/premade will be considered forfeit or abandoned at this time.
-
If this occurs, Blinded by Sunlight reserves the right to modify and resell completed work.
Shipping/Delivery -
-
Once finished with your commission, I will reach out for either for address for shipping as well as additional payment for the shipping costs. (The commissioner is responsible for shipping) Or if picking up, set up a time and place to safely meet.
-
For US customers, items will be shipped via USPS unless requested otherwise.
-
If you decide, you can pick up your finished commission at a convention.
-
No local pickup is allowed. I will hold completed badges for no longer than 1 month. Items will ONLY be shipped to the address provided at the time of commission.
-
If a balance is due upon completion, you will be notified and will be expected to pay this balance before your commission can be shipped or will be allowed to be picked up.
-
This goes for small pieces as well; if a balance is due on your commission, you must settle it before the finished items are released to you.
-
If you are up-to-date on your payment(s), finished, or have paid in full, finished items can be released to you, if this is something you would like.
Holding -
-
All suits/costumes and art will be held until paid in full.
-
If repairs or tailoring are needed, I WILL hold your items for up to one month after repairs or tailoring have been finished and you have been notified. If a longer timeframe is needed for pick up, please discuss this before the items are dropped off.
-
This is due to space limitations.
-
If one month after your items have been repaired/tailored, they are still in my possession, you will be charged a $50 fee per month that will need to be paid upon pick-up.
-
Drop off ONLY the items that need repair. I do not have room for your entire suit/costume, storage bins, suitcases, bags, etc, during the repair/tailoring process.
Warranty -
-
Remember, each piece of art is handmade and will be unique in its own way.
-
If your art or costume arrives with damage done to the BOX, please take pictures and notify me before opening the box.
-
If your art or costume is damaged again, please take photos and contact me.
-
I do offer free MINOR repairs for NORMAL wear and tear, beginning when you RECEIVE the item for 30 days. After 30 days of owning your costume, all large and small repairs will be charged a repair fee.
-
I will not fix damage done to your suit or suit parts due to misuse or inappropriate use.
-
All repairs are subject to a case-by-case basis and can be declined. I cannot guarantee that repairs will be made ASAP.
-
If you DO NOT wish to accept this additional fee, you are more than welcome to repair your costume yourself or seek another party's help. However, by doing this, you void any future help or assistance from me when it comes to repairs and damage.
-
The costumes we make are built to last, but do require some normal maintenance from the commissioner.
-
Washing
-
Brushing
-
Small seam repair
-
-
Misuse, including sexual activity or tampering with premade items, including but not limited to home repairs or alterations, immediately voids your warranty.
-
Any large repairs to premades may be discussed and are on a case-by-case basis. Fees may apply.
-
The client is responsible for the shipping fees to and from me.
-
Premade costumes are not guaranteed to fit the buyer and are listed as accurately as possible at the time of posting. These costumes are completed or previously owned by Blinded by Sunlight and then put up for sale.
-
Premades do not qualify for adjustments or add-ons!
Repairs/ Tailoring/ Damage -
-
As stated previously, I offer a guaranteed 30-day warranty, and I will be happy to repair light-use issues with your commission.
-
Heavy wear/damage within this time frame will be outside our ability to repair and will need to be replaced, which WILL BE assessed as an additional cost.
-
Any repairs outside this 30-day window will result in a fee for repairs.
-
I want your commission to last and encourage you to take care of your suit/suit parts by washing, brushing, using suit spray in between washes, and using your suit appropriately.
-
Be careful how you handle your suit. DO NOT hold, grab, yank, throw, swing, carry, kick, or spin your suit/costume by the ears, jaw, muzzle, tongue, teeth, antlers, horns, mohawk, hair, or neck. DO NOT poke or pick at the teeth, eyes, or eye mesh, as this will cause damage to the paint and eye structure. DO NOT pull, grab, yank, tug, twist, or spin the tail. Dragging the feet will result in ruining the bottoms, matting, fraying, and balding of the fur. All of the above causes unnecessary stress. Damage resulting from improper usage WILL NOT be fixed. No exceptions.
-
DO NOT let friends, family, or anyone else you may know or think you know use your suit/costume, as non-repairable damage may happen while it is out of your sight and WILL NOT be fixed.
-
At this time, we do not fix or alter other suit makers' work. Sorry for any inconvenience.
-
I am busy and would greatly appreciate it if you come to me with ACTUAL issues or damage. Please do not perceive issues or damage. If there is nothing wrong, I will not fix perceived problems.
Premade/Personal Items -
-
Blinded by Sunlight has occasionally placed old, lightly worn personal suits and parts up for sale. These WILL NOT be altered and are sold AS IS.
-
All sales will take place through The Dealers Den for these individual items.
-
Prices are set and are firm and non-negotiable.
-
No trades will be accepted as valid forms of payment for ANY item at ANY time.
-
Once the item is sold through The Dealers Den, the process/rules for sales outlined by The Dealers Den will be followed.
-
Most ALL personal projects contain some type of, if not made up entirely of, experimental work.I enjoy learning new techniques to further my knowledge of the craft and process. If a personal suit is listed for sale at any point, all imperfections will be thoroughly noted.

-
All other parties are prohibited from posting these photos/videos.
-
Spreading misinformation or inaccurate information about me or my company (Blinded by Sunlight) at any time will cause you to be banned from commissions and, depending on the severity, possibly legal action.
-
If you hear something and have a question as to its legitimacy, please ask! Past commissioners are allowed their personal opinions of Blinded by Sunlight. I recommend taking their opinions with a grain of salt. As with any review, look for pertinent information and not opinions.
-
Images of me or commissions posted anywhere other than my listed social media pages or the current commissioner's pages are reposted without consent or permission.
